Ever feel like on the outside you're presenting a pretty fine picture to the world where you've got it all happening? But really, you're exhausted & overwhelmed, and just trying to hold it altogether? And then to top it off, your digestion is playing havoc, your hormones are even worse, and you’re bloody exhausted and just not coping.
I hear you, and I see you - because: me too! I’ve become fascinated with chronic conditions and out of whack hormones and digestion, because after decades of struggling with major depression, anxiety and adrenal fatigue, I wanted answers. I was sick of being brushed aside and being told that my ‘blood labs are all normal’ and this is ‘just part of being a mum’ and having a young one.
And you know what I figured out? YOU DON’T HAVE TO FEEL THIS WAY & I’m here to help.
STRESS. HORMONES. DIGESTION. EXHAUSTION. MENTAL HEALTH.
MY STORY - and yours too!
Even just one of these struggles is going to take a huge toll on your health - but most women nowadays would easily battle 3 or more at any time. One leads to the other and so often, we’re told it’s just part of ageing, or being a mum, or worse yet - it’s just ‘normal’. But a year after having my wee one, and feeling oh so broken and too exhausted to actually enjoy having fun with her, I needed to make a change. There just had to be another answer.
I’ve battled major depression and anxiety since my early teens - and seeing as depression is the leading cause of ill health and disability in the world, that’s really no surprise. The hospital visits when I was younger, the struggling to want to stay alive part of it all, endless counsellors, psychologists and medicines and therapies to help… these have all been pretty constant companions of mine since my early teens, travelling right alongside me through an early career as a fresh-faced publicist in the music industry, a yoga teacher, a uni student (almost 2 degrees down) and more recently, a mum.
But even if you don’t have major mental health issues, to some degree we’re all affected by stress. And the modern woman, with our invisible loads and mental lists of EVERYTHING, is really not doing all that well once you scratch the surface a little.
The hormonal roller coaster that women of ALL ages face is
Yoga was the first on the list to help. Breathing and moving in this way has not only served me well with my mental health battles, but also major burnout and adrenal fatigue in my 30’s, and other chronic health issues. It’s good to find something that helps, isn’t it?
WHY WORK WITH ME?
You might not have depression or anxiety. But everyone deals with stress, and sometimes our big lives with big jobs and big schedules and big relationships (families, kids, partners, bosses!) can all become a bit too much.
Movement and mindfulness are life-changing tools to help you reconnect and find balance, but over the years I’ve managed to put together a whole toolkit of practices that give me a happy life - because let’s be honest, there’s no one practice, or one magic pill, that is going to be a cure all.
I’ve been teaching yoga for more than 15 years now, and have taught over 7000+ hours of classes and trainings. I’ve also done further study in many additional health fields (from nutrition to meditation), and am currently in my 3rd year of a Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (BHSc) degree at UTS.
FROM DEPLETION TO WELLNESS
If yoga first bought me back to a life worth living, it was Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine that finally made me feel at home in my body. It so powerfully solidified my journey back to health, particularly in regards to burnout, fatigue, and the hormonal roller coaster that goes along with IVF, pregnancy, and new motherhood! And as I treat patients in the student clinic (under supervision with my tutors) I’m continually shown how potent it is. There’s a reason it’s been around for thousands of years!
So If you are ready to uncover a balanced, loving life through mindful movement, meditation and Chinese Medicine wisdom, let’s connect.
Come and unwind with me. It's time to welcome yourself home xo
